This web site resides on a Pentium Pro 200 computer.

It is tied to the internet with a Southwestern Bell ADSL line which provides a constant 256kbps upload (download for you) bandwidth. SBC is also my ISP.

The opertating system is RedHat Linux.

The web server that I am using is Apache.

I use the PHP server side scripting language.

The backend database engine is MySQL.

To enter a logbook entry I simply type the date and entry into the MySQL database and it will magically appear on the website. This saves me from having to keep track of all the formatting information for each page. I can also change the way the entire website looks with only a few lines of code. It also means that the totals in the project summary are calculated dynamically as the page loads.

If I have a photo to show I create two images for each picture and copy these two images to the website, then I add some entries to another table in the database and the relationships are such that it can associate the image with the logbook entry. The project notes are done in a similar way.

I take the pictures with a Nikon CoolPix 995 Digital Camera. I then simply resize them to the two sizes that I need in Adobe Photoshop and copy them to the website. It does not take very long.
